Lactic Acid+salicylic Acid
About Lactic Acid+salicylic Acid
Lactic Acid+salicylic Acid belongs to a class of drugs called 'keratolytic agents' used to treat skin conditions like warts and remove calluses and corns. Verrucas and warts are small excessive growths of skin that are caused by a virus. Warts occur on the back of hands or fingers whereas verrucas occur only on the sole. Corns and calluses are thick, hard pads of skin caused by friction and pressure that usually occur on the feet due to poor-fitting shoes.
Lactic Acid+salicylic Acid is a combination of two keratolytic agents, namely: Lactic acid and Salicylic acid. Lactic Acid+salicylic Acid works by breaking down a skin protein known as keratin and removes dead skin cells, thereby softening skin. Lactic Acid+salicylic Acid acts as an acid exfoliant that softens and dissolves the keratin. Besides this, it also helps to slow down the shedding of skin, thereby allowing the skin to function longer before flaking off. Thus, Lactic Acid+salicylic Acid softens and dissolves keratin (skin protein) and prevents acne formation and further bacterial skin infections.

If left untreated, warts and verrucas grow and spread as the virus is highly infectious and can be contagious (spread from person to person).
